The Institut Pasteur of Tunis (IPT) is a Regional Training Center (RTC) for Health Research supported by Tropical Disease Research (TDR) for the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR). Its mandate is to improve the health research capacity skills of researchers in the region through short training courses on Good practices, Bioethics, Project planning and evaluation and Implementation research. The TDR-supported RTC for EMR is launching the call of applications for the 5th Regional Course on Good Health Research Practices (GHRP) which will be held on July 28-31, 2023 in Tunisia. The GHRP course provides participants with the necessary knowledge and skills for human research management. It helps scientists to understand the importance of ethical and quality principles in the conduct of human health research.
MODULESThe participants of the GHRP course will build skills in biomedical and health research to develop well-structured competitive proposals with clear and realistic implementation and monitoring plans. The course, taught in English, will be held over 4 days. It will include the 5 following modules:
- Good practices in biomedical research;
- Concept and value of project planning and evaluation;
- Defining the purpose and scope of the project;
- Planning the project;
- Implementing and evaluating a project.
PARTICIPANTSTarget participants: Up to 20 participants will be selected who are involved in public health research or/and public health professionals, such as epidemiologists, sociologists, etc..
Participants are expected to bring the study proposal they plan to implement. Each project has to be proposed by two investigators, and for each selected project, two researchers will be able to participate in this training (PI, Co-PI,..).
ELIGIBILITY
1. Only applicants from WHO-EMR region countries working in an institution within their regions are eligible.
2. They should be involved in health research and recommended by their Institution. Upon selection, applicants have to bring their own proposal of the study which they plan to implement. For each selected project, two researchers will be able to participate in this training (e.g, PI, Co-PI, PhD..)
APPLICATION REQUIREMENT1/ Complete the application form including the description of the proposed research. Please note that the description of the proposed research section is important for the final selection of participants. 2/ Full CV 3/ Scanned copy of the visa application file4/ Recommendation letter certifying the applicant's competency and how attending this course will help her/him progress the proposed project. 5/ Scanned copy of the first page of the passport (for international participants*) All documents must be complete and have to be sent to: rtc.ipt@pasteur.utm.tn
SELECTION CRITERIA
Participants will be selected according to their motivation letter, the pertinence of their proposal outlines, and the provided recommendation letter.
SCHOLARSHIP Expenses (except visa fees) for all selected participants will be supported by the organizers. Covered expenses include travel tickets (economic fare), Airport-Venue transfers, and accommodation. All other personal costs will not be covered by the organizers. (**) Important: All selected participants must check before traveling if they need a Visa to enter Tunisia. Participants should obtain (at their own charge) visas to enter TUNISIA, before traveling.
