La Science For Africa Foundation (SFA) a lancé la deuxième phase du programme "Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training and Science in Africa" (DELTAS Africa II) le 13 mars 2023 à Nairobi, au Kenya, avec un programme d'activités d'une semaine pour marquer le début de cette initiative.
DELTAS Africa II est la deuxième phase d'un programme de plusieurs millions de dollars mis en œuvre par la SFA, avec le soutien financier du Wellcome Trust (Royaume-Uni) et du FCDO (Foreign Commonwealth Development Office, Royaume-Uni).
L'objectif de DELTAS Africa II est de contribuer au renforcement de l'excellence et de la capacité de recherche durable et de former la prochaine génération de leaders de la recherche en Afrique afin d'avoir un impact sur les populations, leur santé, leur sécurité alimentaire, l'environnement et le développement socio-économique. Les participants à ces réunions comprenaient les parties prenantes de la SFA, les directeurs des 14 consortiums de recherche et de formation sélectionnés pour recevoir un soutien financier au cours des quatre prochaines années, ainsi que les représentants de leur équipe de gestion.
Le Consortium Africain sur les Leishmanioses (ALC), un réseau panafricain de recherche et de formation, dirigé par le Pr. Ikram Guizani, de l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis (IPT), est l'un des 14 consortiums de recherche et de formation sélectionnés pour un financement et lancés lors de l'événement. L'ALC est composé de leaders de la recherche et de leurs institutions en Afrique du Nord, de l'Ouest et de l'Est. L'ALC était représenté aux événements par une délégation de 5 membres de son équipe de gestion bilingue. L'équipe menée par le Pr. Ikram Guizani comprenait Mr. Mahrez Kallel, Dr. Insaf Bel Hadj Ali, et Dr. Yosser Zina Abdelkrim, tous de l'IPT, et Dr. Olufemi Adedokun, de la Fondation de recherche de l'Université d'Ibadan, l'institution partenaire au Nigéria.
Participation of a delegation from Institut Pasteur de Tunis in the Launch of the Funding Program, DELTAS AFRICA II implemented by the Science for Africa Foundation
The Science for Africa Foundation (SFA) launched the second round of the Developing Excellence in Leadership, Training and Science in Africa (DELTAS Africa II) program on March 13th, 2023, in Nairobi, Kenya, with a week-long program of activities to mark the inception of the initiative.
The DELTAS Africa II is the second phase of a multimillion-dollar program being implemented by SFA, with the funding support from Wellcome Trust, UK and FCDO, the UK Foreign Commonwealth Development Office.
The aims of the DELTAS Africa II are to contribute to building excellence and sustainable research capacity and to grooming the next generation of research leaders in Africa to bring impacts to the populations, their health, the food security, the environment, and the socio-economic development. The participants at the meetings included SFA's stakeholders, the directors of the 14 research and training consortia competitively selected to receive funding support during the next four years, and their management team representatives.
The African Leishmaniases Consortium, ALC, a pan- African research and training network led by Pr. Ikram Guizani, from Institut Pasteur de Tunis (IPT) is one of the 14 research and training consortia selected for funding and launched at the event. The ALC consists of research Leaders and their institutions from the North, West and East Africa. The ALC was represented at the events by a delegation of 5 members of its bilingual core management team. The team led by Pr. Ikram Guizani included Mr. Mahrez Kallel, Dr. Insaf Bel Hadj Ali, and Dr. Yosser Zina Abdelkrim, all from IPT, and Dr. Olufemi Adedokun, from the University of Ibadan Research Foundation, the partner institution in Nigeria. |
