Réunion Mi-Parcours du projet COBRA-NGaV (7-9 mai, Alger)

cobra1Le projet COBRA-NGav « Cobra New Generation Antivenom », coordonné par l'Institut Pasteur de Tunis a tenu sa réunion de Mi-Parcours du 07 au 09 Mai à Alger
Sur une durée totale de 3 ans, l'équipe NanoBioMedika de Pr. Balkiss Bouhaouala-Zahar, Laboratoire Biomolécules, Venins et Applications Théranostiques, Institut Pasteur de Tunis en étroite collaboration avec un consortium de partenaires de l'Institut des régions Arides (IRA) de Médenine, l'Institut Pasteur de Paris (IP), l'Institut Pasteur d'Algérie (IPA) et l'Institut Pasteur d'Iran (IPI), formés de chercheurs reconnus pour leurs expertises complémentaires en venimologie, toxinologie et immunothérapie œuvrent pour fournir la preuve de concept (PoC) de nouveaux antivenins candidats avec des performances capables surmonter le double obstacle de la faible immunogénicité et la diffusion rapide des toxines et des propriétés fonctionnelles et structurales améliorées.

 

Cette réunion de Mi-Parcours s'est tenue en Alger et a rassemblé les différents partenaires (IPT, IPA, IRA, IPI, Icobra2PP), en présence des Représentants de la Direction de la prévention du Ministère de la Santé et de la Réforme Hospitalière et des Représentants du Comité National des Envenimations en Algérie. Les présentations et conférences ont été l'occasion de présenter l'avancement du projet, souligner les défis et proposer des solutions pour une meilleure prise en charge de l'envenimation ophidienne. Dr Saidani, Membre du Comité National de l'Envenimation en Algérie, Institut Pasteur D'Alger a présenté une conférence sur les serpents et leurs environnements. Une session entière et restreinte aux membres du consortium de partenaires a été consacrée aux présentations des résultats et discussions des travaux de recherche à envisager pour la suite du projet. Une table ronde a été organisée pour définir les priorité.

 

A successful Mid-tercobra1m meeting of COBRA-NGaV project, (May 7-9, Alger)

 

The COBRA-NGav project "Cobra New Generation Antivenom", coordinated by the Pasteur Institute de Tunis, held its mid-term meeting from May 7th to 9th in Algeria
Over a total period of 3 years, the NanoBioMedika team of Pr. Balkiss Bouhaouala-Zahar from Biomolecules, Venoms and Theranostic Applications Laboratory at Pasteur Institute of Tunis, in close collaboration with a consortium of partners from the Institute of Arid Regions (IRA) of Medenine, the Pasteur Institute of Paris (IP), the Pasteur Institute of Algeria (IPA) and the Pasteur Institute of Iran (IPI), are working to provide proof of concept (PoC) of new antivenom candidates with performances capable of overcoming the dual hurdle of low immunogenicity and rapid diffusion of toxins and improved functional and structural properties.
This mid-term meeting was held in Algeria and met the different partners (IPT, IPA, IRA, IPI, IPP), in the presence of Representatives of the Prevention Direction of the Ministry of Health and Hospital Reform Representatives of the National Committee of Envenomation in Algeria.

cobra2The conferences were an opportunity to present the progress of the project, highlight the challenges and propose solutions for a better management of ophidian envenomation. Dr. Saidani, Member of the National Committee of Envenomation in Algeria, Institut Pasteur D'Alger presented a conference on snakes and their environments. A whole session restricted to the members of the consortium of partners was dedicated for the presentation of the results followed by discussions. A round table was organized to define priorities.
