Ainsi, le laboratoire d’Epidémiologie Moléculaire et de Pathologie Expérimentale, porteur du programme de ce consortium dirigé par Pr. Ikram Guizani, a eu le plaisir d'accueillir les principaux partenaires du consortium venant de 6 pays d'Afrique et d'Espagne. 

À l'issue de ces trois jours de travail et de discussions stratégiques intenses, le Professeur Ikram Guizani, le Professeur Ayoade Oduola (University of Ibadan Research Foundation, Nigeria), le Docteur Meryem Lemrani (Institut Pasteur du Maroc, Maroc), le Docteur Elisa Sicuri (Barcelona Institute for Global Health, Espagne), le Professeur Nuria Casamitjana (Instituto de Salud Global Barcelona, Espagne), le Professeur Seydou Doumbia (University Clinical Research Center – USTTB, Mali), le Professeur Maowia Mukhtar (Bioscience Research Institute, Soudan), le Docteur Endalamaw Gadisa (Armauer Hansen Research Institute, Ethiopie), et le Professeur Ismail Lafri (Institut Pasteur d'Algérie, Algérie) ont officiellement convenu des plans stratégiques du Consortium Africain des Leishmanioses, et ont signé l'accord du consortium.

Cet accord définit le cadre du partenariat, ses modalités et ses engagements. Les dirigeants du ALC ont convenu de collaborer pour réaliser la vision du consortium visant à "Développer un paradigme pour l'élimination des maladies négligées en Afrique" en utilisant la nouvelle stratégie de Réseaux de Projets de Recherche Prioritaires (RPPN).

Cette occasion a permis la rencontre des partenaires du consortium, des équipes impliquées dans ce projet à l’Institut Pasteur (y compris administratives) et en Tunisie, et du staff financier de la « Science For Africa Foundation » (SFA), à travers des réunions et des ateliers de travail pour discuter la mise en place des activités scientifiques des réseaux RPPN et des modalités de sa gestion y compris financière. Les réunions ont mis en place un calendrier d’actions qui aboutiront au lancement officiel des activités de recherche et formation de l’ALC en mai 2024.

For the African Leishmaniases Consortium (ALC) and signing of the consortium agreement at the Institut Pasteur de Tunis from February 26^th to 28^th, 2024

The Institut Pasteur de Tunis (IPT) strategically hosted the meetings for the Take-off of Implementation Frameworks for the African Leishmaniases Consortium (ALC), as part of the preparation for the official launch of its research and training activities, at the Tunis premises, from February 26^th to 28^th, 2024. The Laboratory of Molecular Epidemiology and Experimental Pathology, IPT led by the ALC director, Pr. Ikram Guizani, had the pleasure of welcoming leading partners of the consortium participating from 6 countries in Africa and Spain. At the end of the 3 days of intense strategic discussions and work, Pr. Ikram Guizani, Pr. Ayoade Oduola (University of Ibadan Research Foundation, Nigeria), Dr. Meryem Lemrani (Institut Pasteur du Maroc, Morocco), Dr. Elisa Sicuri (Barcelona Institute for Global Health, Spain), Pr. Nuria Casamitjana (Barcelona Institute of Global Health, Spain), Pr. Seydou Doumbia (University Clinical Research Center - USTTB, Mali), Pr. Maowia Mukhtar (Bioscience Research Institute, Sudan), Dr. Endalamaw Gadisa (Armauer Hansen Research Institute, Ethiopia), Pr. Ismail Lafri (Institut Pasteur d’ Algérie, Algeria) officially agreed on the African Leishmaniases Consortium strategic plans, and signed the consortium agreement which defines the framework of the partnership, its modalities, and its commitments.
The leaders of the ALC agreed on collaborating to deliver the vision of the consortium for “Developing a paradigm for Eliminating Neglected Diseases in Africa" using the novel Research Projects Priority Network (RPPN) strategy.

This occasion allowed the meeting of consortium partners, teams involved in this project at Institut Pasteur de Tunis (including administrative staff), and the financial staff of the Science For Africa Foundation (SFA), through meetings and working workshops to discuss the establishment of the scientific activities of the RPPN networks and the modalities of its management including financial aspects. The meetings established a schedule of actions that will lead to the official launch of the research and training activities of the ALC in May 2024.
